The Australian Greens have been guided in our response to the State of Israel’s invasion of Gaza by our Justice and Human Rights in Palestine and Israel resolution.
Developed in deep collaboration with the Greens For Palestine and Jewish Greens groups the resolution achieved consensus support of the June 2023 Australian Greens National Conference.
As of July 2024 this resolution has enabled the Australian Greens to join with the wider Australian community in advocating for the Australian Government to take following actions:
⦁ Support a permanent and immediate ceasefire.
⦁ Condemn the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the State of Israel.
⦁ Express the view that the State of Israel is committing Genocide against the Palestinian peoples of Gaza
⦁ Join South Africa in its genocide case against the State of Israel at the International Court of Justice.
⦁ End all arms trade with the State of Israel.
⦁ Place Autonomous Sanctions upon Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defence Minister Gallant, Former War Cabinet Minister Gantz and other extremist members of the Netanyahu government.
⦁ Expel the State of Israel’s Ambassador to Australia until such time as the State of Israel complies with the orders of the International Court of Justice.
⦁ End all government contracts with Israeli weapons manufacturers.
⦁ End all military cooperation with the Israeli Defence Force.
⦁ Boycott corporations and entities engaged in the violation of Palestinian human rights.
⦁ Divest from corporations or state-owned entities that are engaged in the violation of Palestinian human rights.
⦁ Call for the unconditional release of all hostages and political prisoners.
The Australian Greens encourage Greens Parties globally to consider adopting similar guiding resolutions to enable your work in supporting Justice and Human Rights in Palestine and Israel.
