Background – During 2011 the Australian Greens have Co-Chaired of the Australian Government’s Multi-party Climate Change Committee which negotiated the new carbon price and clean energy legislation.
The establishment of this climate legislation process was part of the agreement struck between the Greens and the minority Labour Government after the 2010 election.
This new legislative package that is being passed in the Australian Senate in early November (next week) is one of the most positive developments in climate policy internationally for several years.
