The Global Greens urgently calls for solidarity with the Palestinian People following the defiance of the International Court of Justice order to halt the genocide of Israel against the Palestinian people.
We acknowledge the recent countries such as France, UK, Belgium, Portugal, Australia, and Canada that have at the September annual UN General Assembly (UNGA) joined the 150 countries that now formally recognize Palestine. We call on the UN Assembly to invoke Resolution 377A (V) ” Uniting for Peace” (1950) to adhere to international law, protect civilians, and uphold global peace and justice. The credibility of the international system depends on enforcing the ICJ’s ruling and ending impunity.
We call for all governments to invoke comprehensive international sanctions and embargoes against Israel for war crimes and genocide. This includes all arms trade components and jet fuel. We call for the suspension of the EU-Israeli Association Agreement.
We call for humanitarian aid to immediately reach Palestine and for Israel to reopen the border with Jordan and the West Bank so citizens can travel freely. We call on Egypt to open its borders with Palestine immediately. Aid must get to the Palestinians facing famine and lack of clean drinking water. Starvation should never be used as an act of war.
International humanitarian flotillas should not be attacked but allowed to freely deliver much needed aid supplies. All measures must be taken for aid to get through to the Palestinian people.
The ongoing killing of civilians in Palestine must stop, and an international UN Peace Keeping force be sent to assure this is undertaken immediately. We call for the disarmament of Hamas, this is accompanied by international independent support for strengthening democratic institutions that represent the will of the Palestinian people.
Peace in Palestine cannot be imposed by force; it must be built upon justice, mutual respect, and the protection of human rights for all. The two-state recognized system is essential for lasting peace in the region..
We now call upon the 150 countries supporting Palestine to take real action on the above and to be joined by others who have not as yet done so.
