As people, communities and governments continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asia Pacific Greens Federation reaffirms its stance that access to testing, treatment, care and support must be universal and free from discrimination. This humanitarian crisis must be met with a humanitarian response, regardless of race, religion, sex, gender, place of birth, caste, political belief, economic or social condition. All people have a right to health, and countries’ obligation to protect and promote the right, at this and all times, must recognise and respect the inherent value and dignity of every individual, without distinction. The APGF condemns any policy that seeks to divide, disenfranchise and stigmatise people and groups, and that seeks to exploit fear and vulnerability for discriminatory political ends. The right to health is universal and inalienable, and the duty to protect and promote individuals’ and communities right to health requires its provision without discrimination.
