APGN Training Needs Assessment Survey

Dear APGN members and other Greens in the APGN Forum,

APGN TRAINING NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY.

Answer it online here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CHRBJX3 The APGN Training on Party Building and Party Management is definitely pushing through by the end of this year. We are now finalizing details for this.

INITIAL RESPONSE TO THE SURVEY

I would like to thank the first 6 who already responded from the Green Party of Malaysia, Green Party Taiwan, Partido Kalikasan (Phil Green Party), Uttarakhand Parivartan Party (of India) and Sri Lankan Green Alliance. There were some test entries that have affected the overall statistics of the survey response so far. We will have to clean that up first then after which by tomorrow, Friday, Ill give you an initial summary of the results of the survey so far.

INITIAL UPDATING ON THE SURVEY RESULTS

I think it would be interesting to see this trending as we get more response in the survey. So we have decided to give you a weekly (every Friday night, Manila time) update on the results of the survey to keep everyone excited and anticipating on the emerging results. But this means, the output can only be interesting if it covers most if not all of us. So I encourage ALL in these list of the APGN members (delegates) and the general APGN Forum list to please join us in this survey.

FOLLOW UP RESPONSE FROM APGN MEMBERS

Please note that only 3 of the 11 full members of the APGN have responded. Perhaps, it is time for the 8 others to send in their response. May I request Taiwan Friends of the Global Greens, Pakistan Green Party (Pakistan Greens), Korea Greens, Kanagawa Network Movement, Greens Japan, Ecolo Japan, Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand and Australian Greens to please send in your official response to the survey. It is our responsibility as members of APGN to help define an effective training program to benefit us all. If you can do so TODAY till TOMORROW, It will make our first initial summary of the results even more meaningful.

CLARIFYING WHO CAN RESPOND TO THIS SURVEY

Notice that one associate member and a non-member of APGN have responded to the survey early. I am saying this to emphasize and clarify that this survey is NOT meant for APGN full members only. It is meant for all Greens in the region (Asia Pacific). We are starting with those in the APGN members (delegates) list and the APGN Forum list but if you know of any other greens in your country or in other countries in the region, please either send me their contact information so we can contact them and request them to respond to our survey or go ahead and forward the information to them right away. Just use your better judgement to determine that these groups you are enjoining to respond to our survey either have declared themselves being green or you know for a fact that are really green but only not yet part of APGN family. Perhaps this survey and training could actually be a way for them to start being part of us.

RESPONDING TO THE SURVEY ONLINE

We have updated the online survey with the two (2) open ended questions that we also circulated earlier through these list. You can now respond to the survey in this link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CHRBJX3 Way below this email I am also posting the survey in case you cannot access the online version or you prefer to just answer the survey through email. As not to flood our email list of responses, kindly email your response to [email protected] as soon as possible.

PROMOTING THE SURVEY

If you think we can get better results among the greens on this this survey by posting it in your websites, you can use this HTML code: Click here to take survey Im sure your webmaster would know how to use it properly. I am copying this email to James, Global Greens Secretary so he can share this to any Greens in the region that they may be in touch with who are not yet part of the APGN forum list.

GETTING LOCAL PARTY PERSPECTIVES

While most who have responded already are representatives of their national party, the 2 Partido Kalikasan respondents are both leaders of local party organization; precisely because I circulated this survey to our local leaders list. Perhaps you may want to consider doing the same and circulate this survey to be answered by local and national leaders of your party so that the perspective we get is also coming from the local party realities.

NEXT STEPS: PHONE CALL DISCUSSIONS

To complement this survey, I will be making phone call conversations and interviews with key leaders of the APGNmembers and other greens. This will be an excellent opportunity to go beyond text in emails and put a voice on the name (in case we have not met yet — i came in APGN congress processes only in Taiwan last year).

We can talk about the survey and the training, especially if some of the questions were not clear or if you feel you need to explain further some of your answers and if there is anything else related to the training and this survey that you feel are not aptly covered in the survey questionnaire.

Beyond the training concerns, this will also be an excellent opportunity to discuss broader APGN and greens in the region concern. I would also appreciate any insights you might have on the overall green movement and green party building in your country and our region.

In individual emails to APGN Members representatives (full members who those in the delegates list and associate members), I will be sending you your contact information (particularly phone numbers) in record so you can first validate if they are updated before I make the calls so as to not waste resources in case we have your wrong number of you have changed numbers. If you can be proactive, email me right now ([email protected]) your updated contact information. For friends of APGN in the APGN forum and other non APGN member Green groups, please do not hesitate to send me your contact information as we are also equally interested to talk to you and discuss openly matters regarding this trainingand in APGN in general.
